School is off to a great start!! Experiments and Observations to start off with.

It has been a busy fun-filled week at school! The 3rd graders are learning about their senses. We did an observation today to see if we could record all of the items that they could see and write them down as quickly as possible.

Next, we tested our eyes. We put a piece of crushed paper on top of a glass to see if we could thump it off the glass when we covered each eye. Some quickly figured out which eye had the stronger vision! :) They experimented with this activity until they figured out that they could direct the piece of paper to go exactly where they wanted it to go! Great activity and a lot of fun!!!

The 4th graders are learning about plants and birds. They planted seeds today of pumpkin, green beans, apple, and plums. They enjoyed being gardeners for the day. They will record their plants in a log book daily. They will observe their findings for each day and make predictions of what will happen as their plants continue to grow. We will try different experiments with their plants, little sunlight, no sunlight, lots of sunlight, little water, no water, lots of water and so on. We will learn the parts of the flower and plants in the upcoming week!
Finally, a great way to end class, group discussion. What did you already know, what did you want to learn, and what did you learn that was new.
